"Pansy for glass" attracted crowds of residents. We collected as much as 660 kg of glass!

On 17 April, the A. Gołaś Hall became the venue for a unique ecological initiative, which met with great interest from residents. On that day, during the event inaugurating the project "Ostrołęka – young people in the center", implemented as part of the Polish-Swiss Urban Development Program, we organized the "Pansy for Glass" campaign. It was a bull's eye.

The initiative attracted crowds of people who were willing to join in the activities for the environment, bringing glass bottles and jars in exchange for spring pansies. Let us remind you that for every 8 pieces of returned glass jars or recyclable bottles, you could receive a pansy (max. 4 pieces).

From the first minutes of the event, it was clear that the residents approached the action very seriously. Residents of all ages came to the hall – from preschoolers, school youth, to seniors, who were happy to empty their home containers.

The sight of people lining up with bags full of jars and bottles made a huge impression on us. The scale of residents' involvement showed how important initiatives promoting ecology and proper waste segregation are. The effect of the action exceeded the wildest expectations – during the event, as much as 660 kilograms of glass were collected. This is an impressive result that shows that joint actions can have a real impact on improving the state of the natural environment.

The "Brother for Glass" campaign was not only an opportunity to take care of ecology, but also a great example of integrating the local community around an important goal. Special applause is due to schools and kindergartens for their mobilization, commitment and such a large participation.

The program is co-financed from the Second Edition of Swiss Financial Assistance for selected Member States of the European Union in order to reduce socio-economic differences within the European Union and from the state budget.
